In June 2018, the Abitibi-Témiscamingue chapter of the FPJQ (Fédération professionnelle des journalistes du Québec) and Minwashin held an exchange and training day on the relationship between First Peoples and professionals in communication, such as journalists.

This meeting raised the awareness of regional media about Anicinabe realities, while offering them tools to play a proactive role in bridging gaps between peoples. A better understanding of the Anishnabeg and the issues they face allows to share a more accurate and balanced information, one that demystifies Anishnabe existence in the eyes of the general population.
